WINTER YORKSHIRE 3 PEAKS

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 25 -miles (38.6km) round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The challenge takes on the 3 iconic peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order, and in under 12 hours.

Where does it start?

An early start as this is a 12 hour walking challenge.

Meeting time 6.45am in the main car park in Horton.

Walk starts at 7.00am prompt 
All details will be emailed to you 72 hours before the event.

 

What we provide

We provide checkpoints where you can get refreshments, top up your water, have some snacks, and we can drive you back to Horton if you find the walk a little to challenging and decide to not complete the challenge.

This is a fully guided small group walk so you will be with one of our Mountain Leaders every step of the way.

Is it for me?

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is extremely tough and you will need a very good level of fitness to complete the walk. We highly recommend training for this challenge and ensuring you are prepared for a very long day in the mountains. We will provide a training plan that will help you prepare for the challenge.

To carry in your backpack:

Essential (to be carried)

  • Rucksack (20-30ltrs)

  • Water (2 litres)

  • Waterproof Jacket (minimum 5,000 hydrostatic head)

  • Waterproof Trousers

  • Snacks/Food

  • Hat (sun hat or warm beanie, weather dependent)

  • Fleece or similar mid layer 

  • Personal small first aid kit  including plaster/blister plaster ie; Compeed, inhaler (if required), paracetamol, sun cream (weather dependent)

  • Suitable footwear.  A good sturdy boot or shoe with good grip essential.  Slips, trips and falls are the biggest problem, lower limb (ankle) injuries are common, it is for this reason we recommend supportive footwear.

  • Breathable top

  • Lightweight Walking Trousers/leggings/shorts

  • Head Torch

  • Gloves
